Watch Phil Hawksworth's International JavaScript Conference session

Do we really need this JAMstack thing? And what even is it?

JAXenter Editorial Team

In this International JavaScript Conference session, Phil Hawksworth demystifies this buzzwordy term, and explores how this approach to simplifying the technology stack can lead to shorter development times, with better performance and greater security. Let’s learn about the JAMstack!

We’ll see how the JAMstack – a stack consisting of JavaScript, APIs and Markup – is placing more power, more confidence, and more capabilities in the hands of designers, authors, and front-end developers. And we’ll show how serverless functions can augment this stack to let us rapidly build interfaces and APIs to power sites that we’d be brave enough to share with the world.

JAMstackPhil Hawksworth is Principal Developer Experience Engineer at Netlify. With a passion for browser technologies, and the empowering properties of the web, he loves seeking out ingenuity and simplicity, especially in places where over-engineering is common.

After more than 20 years of building web applications for companies such as Google, Apple, Nike, R/GA, and The London Stock Exchange, Phil has worked to challenge traditional technical architectures in favor of simplicity and effectiveness.
