More than 85,000 youths enter the juvenile justice system in Florida every year. As the nature of crime and background may vary from offender to offender, it is a daunting task to customise rehabilitation programmes that works for everyone.

So, Florida has decided to use IBM predictive analytics to design rehabilitation programmes that will help juvenile offenders return to society as responsible individuals.

SPSS, an IBM Company, states that with the new analytics system Florida would analyse ‘’…Key predictors such as past offense history, home life environment, gang affiliation and peer associations to better understand and predict which youths have a higher likelihood to reoffend”.

Prior to predictive analytics, Florida State Department of Juvenile Justice used Excel to analyse data and make projections.
