Java 10 is almost upon us so it’s time to have a quick look at the most popular Java versions. Are you a Java 8 fan or have you migrated to Java 9? Or perhaps you’re still using Java 6 or 7. Java developers, this poll is for you.
The preliminary results of our annual survey — which is still open, by the way — show that respondents have not fallen out of love with Java 6, 7 and 8 but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to focus more on Java 9 this year.
To be more exact, 62 percent want to give Java 9 a try in 2018 and only one in five respondents finds it uninteresting. Furthermore, about one-third of the respondents are interested in experimenting with the upcoming versions —Java 10 & 11.

Now that Java 10 is almost upon us, one cannot help but wonder: have Java developers embraced Java 9 or are they still using older versions? Perhaps a poll will shed some light on this question, especially since the results of last year’s survey showed that Java 9 was a top priority for our readers.
What Java version are you currently using?
- Java 8 (82%, 243 Votes)
- Java 9 (8%, 23 Votes)
- Java 7 (7%, 20 Votes)
- Java 6 (3%, 8 Votes)
- Java 5 (1%, 3 Votes)
Total Voters: 297

I am using java 9 and 8 also, why can’t I checkbox them on the vote form?
Hi Lorant. All set, you can now check two boxes. Thank you for noticing!
