Diversity – a different Perspective
Nowadays, diversity is on everyone’s lips. Although one cannot deny the importance of this topic, the debate around it is very sensitive and usually emotional, which doesn’t always foster a constructive discourse. Martina Mitz’s talk from the International PHP Conferences discusses a journey of introspection.
Furthermore, the diversity conversation is sometimes focused only on race, gender, and religion, as well as diversity in the workplace.
In her talk, Martina invites attendees to participate in a journey of introspection and join her in scrutinising the inner cognitive aspects that play a role in building a constructive approach with difficult topics. The talk will also include a few practical exercises that we can all apply in our efforts to help shape more enriched, rather than fearful societies.
Martina Mitz started as a self-taught Web Designer in 1999. From the very beginning, her approach was user-centered despite not being familiar with the now-common phrase of ‘user experience’. In 2007, she finalized her studies in Psychology and started working in the field of clinical Psychology. It was at this point that Martina’s academic background and her passion joined and she started a career as an UX Designer, being called “Conceptioner” at first. Since then, Martina has not only contributed to the digital and service ecosystems of many recognizable companies (e.g. eBay, PayPal, Emirates Airlines, Volkswagen, Telekom, and many more), but she also helped selected Start-ups in Europe by forming and driving their Research, as well as contributing to their product or service strategy and definition.
