Will the Logo be Changed?
The results for the second round of voting in the Eclipse logo competition, are now in!
1196 people participated in round 2 – but once again, the initiative has run into difficulties. Although 73% of participants cast a vote in favour of updating the Eclipse logo, no clear preference emerged, with less than ten votes separating the two top concepts. The pre-existing Eclipse logo also received a similar number of votes. Therefore, Ian Skerrett has decided to recommend the Eclipse logo does not undergo any modernisation, as he perceives none of the new logos to have sufficient community support. “In the grand scheme of things, at this time I don’t believe the cost to the Foundation and the project teams is worth the benefit,” he writes.
The prize money will be awarded to the concept that received the most votes, and Ian Skerrett pledges to award all the top concept designers with some Eclipse-related goodies.
