What’s Popular In Ruby?
Application Performance Management providers for Java, Ruby, and JRuby applications, New Relic RPM have published their periodic report on the most commonly used versions of Rails, Ruby, and related plugins, based on the organisations that use New Relic RPM products to manage their apps. New Relic RPM cites their customer-base as more than 3,000.”
The report reveals that, as of 31 December 2009, 63.5% of New Relic RPM customers use Ruby 1.8.6, but that Ruby version 1.8.7 has seen a marked increase: from 5% in June, to 30% in December. The two most commonly deployed versions of Rails amongst New Relic RPM customers, are 2.3.4 (32.6%) which was released in September 2009, and 2.3.2 (20.6%). Meanwhile, 13.8% have adopted version 2.3.5, which was released at the end of November.
