Every Monday we take a step back and look at all the cool stuff that went down during the previous week. We had another super busy week in IT world! News and releases coming from every direction! But don’t worry, we got you covered! We have, Angular v7 second beta, Android 9 Pie, GraalVM 1.0-RC5 and so much more!

On the road to Angular v7

The countdown to the Angular v7 release has begun. The second beta arrives with four bugfixes and one feature in tow.

Sure, it’s just one feature but one now, one in beta.0, and before we know it, we’ll be able to put the pieces together and catch a glimpse of how Angular v7 looks like.

Check the list here.

Welcome Julia v1.0!

Julia first entered the TIOBE top 50 programming languages in September 2016, and since then it has seen some growth and dips. Hitting its all-time high at number 37 in March 2018, it’s current rank for August 2018 edges itself into the charts at number 50.

This underdog of programming languages has some tricks up its sleeve and we expect to see a wider adoption of it with the release of v1.0.

Take a look at what Julia is capable of, and what the highly anticipated new release includes here.

GraalVM 1.0-rc5 is here!

Things are shaping up nicely; GraalVM 1.0-rc5 marks a milestone for the project as it provides pre-built binaries for GraalVM CE on macOS.

Check out the most important changes in this release here.

Android 9 Pie is a delicious slice of AI-powered computing

We grab a slice of the popular mobile operating system for a quick taste test. What can developers expect from Android Pie? A smarter, simpler UI experience powered by AI.

Most of the new features aren’t a surprise – we covered them earlier this year with our Android P coverage. However, some of those headline features are missing and won’t be generally available until the fall.

That said, what we’re really interested in is the tech under the hood, so grab a fork and dig right in here.

JAX Magazine is out!

The latest JAX Mag is here and it’s onwards and upwards for Java!

Java 10 was “the fastest in Java’s 23-year history” and now we’re just one month away from Java 11 so it’s not far-fetched to say that Java’s new chapter is exciting. This issue depicts Java’s new journey but it’s not (just) an ode to this 23-year-old programing language; if you’re a DevOps aficionado or expert, you’ll surely enjoy the second part.
