Upcoming Features For Accelerated Application Delivery 2.2

Jessica Thornsby

Jana Richter has blogged about the enhancements developers can expect in the forthcoming Accelerated Application Delivery 2.2. This software appliance aims to enable end users to access web-based SAP applications at accelerated speeds, and is shipped as a complementary SAP NetWeaver offering.

This release focuses on operational improvements that aim to simplify the overall set up and operations of AccAD landscapes. With AccAD 2.2, users can store the whole landscape configuration in a single central repository. The components Server Front-End (SFE) and Client Front-Ends (CFEs), will still be available. This version also introduces a standalone web-based administration UI called AccAD Administrator, a SAP NetWeaver Portal for an AccAD plugin is no longer required. The IP of the AccAD Repository or AccAD Engine can be called directly, and here the user can perform all the configuration steps, including the network settings. Should you wish to use it, the Command Line Interface is still available.

Richter points out that the features she lists are currently only guaranteed to be provided with Ramp-Up start, which is scheduled for the end of March. Please see her blog posting, for all the features currently being implemented in AccAD.
