Titanium 1.0 Released


The Appcelerator platform have just released Appcelerator Titanium version 1.0. Titanium is an open source platform offering cross-platform development, from a single codebase, at web development speed for native mobile, desktop and iPad applications. It uses using existing web skills, including Javascript, HTML, CSS, Python, Ruby, and PHP.

Version 1.0 features upgrades to Titanium’s mobile processing engine which introduces 100 new native UI controls for native tables, views, tabs, alerts, dialogs, and buttons; native 2D/3D animation capabilities, and new data and media presentation capabilities. These upgrades mean that Titanium can now create branded applications, casual games, and augmented reality applications.

Version 1.0 offers a suite of metrics to track actions, flows, timed events and features used. This suite can run out-of-the-box, or can be customised to your unique events.

“Appcelerator improves upon the ‘write once, deploy anywhere’ approach by enabling cross-platform development of applications that leverage the native performance and capabilities of each unique device from a cost effective, web technology-driven code base.,” said Scott Ellison, Vice-President Mobile at IDC.

Appcelerator is now available in two editions: a free Community Edition, and Titanium Professional, offering SLA-driven support, analytics for the past 6 months, and membership to Appcelerator’s Beta Preview program.
