Terracotta and Eucalyptus Systems Announce Partnership

Infrastructure software providers Terracotta and Eucalyptus Systems Inc have announced a partnership to provide enterprises with an open source solution to maximise application performance and data scalability in a private cloud environment. Terracotta specialises in scalability for Java applications, and Eucalyptus is the creator of the open source, Amazon AWS-compatible private cloud platform for companies seeking the benefits of cloud computing on their own infrastructure.

The two companies plan to allow enterprises to provision private clouds on Eucalyptus’ private cloud platform, capitalising on the potential flexibility of cloud computing. It is sometimes problematic for enterprises to adopt cloud architecture, due to the inability of the data layer to scale at the same rate as the computer layer and issues with the elastic provisioning of compute clouds on existing data centre infrastructure. Terracotta will provide optimum data tier scalability and performance by addressing relational databases that cannot scale, on Eucalyptus’ aforementioned open source private cloud.

The two companies will also engage in joint sales and marketing activities, in addition to providing tighter integration between Eucalyptus software and Terracotta technology.

Terracotta and Eucalyptus will host a webcast on February 25th at 17.00 GMT. Interested parties can sign up for the webinar at the Terracotta website.
