DataStax Enterprise 4.5 out of the box
Inside the lightning fast new release from the Cassandra database experts.
Inside the lightning fast new release from the Cassandra database experts.
Tim Berglund, who recently moved from GitHub to DataStax (aka the commercial warders of Apache Cassandra, a NoSQL platform for data-driven, real-time applications), has long been an active member of the Cassandra community. In this interview, he gives us an expert view on the current Big Data landscape, the growing focus on analytics in the sector, and why the recent Apache Spark and Cassandra collaboration is a natural next step. Filmed at JAX 2014, Mainz, Germany.
Hadoop and NoSQL big guns announce mutually beneficial agreement to co-market and co-sell their software, ticking relational providers off in the process.
MariaDB 10 is now GA, complete with Connect engine for easy data wrangling from both traditional SQL databases and sharding functionalities.
Riak vendors may have shed a CEO, CTO and Chief Architect this year, but the NoSQL company is still making friends in the space.
NoSQL CEO Bob Wiederhold outlines his plans for world domination – one enterprise at a time.
NoSQL is becoming more widely used across the board – but growing importance of data is fuelling interest in graph based schema.
With the fourth anniversary of acquisition of the platform coming up, the Father of Java has a mixed bag of views on its stewards.
With the proliferation of data sources and growing user bases, the amount of data generated requires new ways for storage and processing. Hadoop opened new possibilities, yet it falls short of instant delivery.
The need to operate terabyte-size databases becomes very common these days. Unless you have implemented architectures that use NoSQL databases and frameworks that support data-intensive distributed applications, then many technology options available are difficult to understand. This session focuses on real-world successful attempts to benchmark four of the most popular NoSQL databases side by side. The base tool selected for the purpose of this research is Yahoo Cloud Serving Benchmark and benchmarking is performed on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud instances. We will benchmark MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase, and Riak in their default configuration, with tuned client and server side settings and we measure performance of them on 7 types of workloads. A look at some of the design and implementation strategies you can employ when building a Neo4j-based graph database solution, including architectural choices, data modelling, and testing. Filmed at JAX London 2013.
Neo Technologys Rik Van Bruggen explains how Neo4j 2.0 makes complex things easy with key new features and overhauls of the graph database.
