SpringSource tc Server Spring Edition 2.0
SpringSource have announced SpringSource tc Server Spring Edition 2.0, which is based on Apache’s Tomcat server.
The tc Server Spring Edition will provide a platform for running modern applications in private and public cloud environments, particularly in the virtualized datacenter. It will also provide tools for managing the performance and quality of Spring applications, with the aim of reducing the time taken to deliver new applicartions.
The tc Server Spring Edition has been developed with a mind to making it easy for customers currently running Spring applications on Java EE servers and customers running on Tomcat servers, to migrate to the tc Server Spring Edition.
Version 2.0 features include rich alert definition, workflows and flexible control actions for allowing application operators to pro-actively manage application issues; and event dashboards for locating problem areas and possible root causes of issues.
SpringSource tc Server 2.0 will be generally available in early April 2010. Licenses for the Spring Edition start at $750 per CPU. The Standard Edition starts at $500 per CPU. There will be a free Developer Edition.
This release will be accompanied by a VMware promotion, where licenses of tc Server will be offered at no additional cost for a limited time, alongside the sale of qualifiying VMware products. This is the first time that SpringSource solutions have been available from VMware channel partners.
