Malicious Apps Hit Android Phones
A virus that can rack up text messaging bills, is spreading through Android devices.
What is thought to be the first Android virus, has been discovered by Kaspersky Labs. The application is presented as a media player but, upon installation, it begins sending text messages to premium numbers.
According to Kaspersky Labs, the ‘Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a’ virus is spread via text message. The message encourages the receiver to install an application, 13KB in size, and claims to be a media player.
