Charles Nutter and JRuby team leave Sun
The JRuby team at Sun – Charles Nutter, Thomas Enebo and Nick Sieger – are leaving the company and heading to Rails application hosting company, Engine Yard. Computerworld is reporting that the team is leaving because of the uncertainty following Oracle’s acquisition earlier this year. “To be honest, we had no evidence that Oracle wouldn’t support JRuby, but we also didn’t have any evidence that they would,” Nutter told Computerworld. The three will continue to work on JRuby at Engine Yard, but Nick Sieger would have to leave his leading role at Project Kenai. Nutter, Enebo and Sieger had been working at Sun for the last two and a half years.
