Celer recruits Zing for next-gen Java-based trading platform
Celer’s Java trading platform will now enable trading firms to customise their applications and carry out more consistent trading with more control over latency.
In a move to deliver lower latency for their trading system modules, Celer has announced its latest Java runtime trading system by way of a partnership with Azul Systems.
Users of Celer’s financial market trading platform (predominantly banks, funds and brokers) will be able to make use of Azul’s JVM, Zing, designed for low latency and high throughput in risk management, compliance monitoring and trade execution.
Based on Oracle’s Hotspot JVM, Zing has earned much attention for its new approach to Java performance and scalability. Azul’s JVM, which has become the first fully-native JVM for Linux, boasts several advantages over its rivals, including elastic scalability, better metrics and pauseless garbage collection.

Following the announcement, Scott Sellers, President and CEO of Azul Systems underlined the importance of the entire infrastructure stack for revenue-generating applications:

Celer has established itself with a highly customisable offering, which can be tailored to the specific requirements of individual companies. The London-based financial technology firm provides a number of lighter and extensive trading clients (for market traders, web traders or sales dealers) as well as modules for analytics, risk management, order management and pricing, which communicate via a central event processing engine.
By adding Azul’s JVM into the mix, Celer wants to provide its users with more control over latency as their technology grows, their modules are changed and their customer base shifts.
