The latest Tomcat update, 7.0.56, is now available, bringing support for Websocket 1.1.

An update for the Apache Tomcat Web server is now available. The most noticeable update for Tomcat 7.0.56 is the WebSocket support. The Java WebSocket specification 1.1 is now also supported.

Another highlight is the WebSocket Permessage-deflate extension, which can now be used, however, it is currently still limited to the decompression of incoming messages on the server side.

In the next Tomcat update, outgoing messages and expansion on the client side will also be supported.

As always, there were of course plenty of bugfixings, which affected Catalina, Coyote, Jasper and the WebSocket components. This information was revealed in the changelog.

Tomcat 8.0.14 also recently appeared and kept the WebSocket 1.1 support collection. In addition, the Windows Installer, the Windows Service and Windows Service Management Application are now digitally signed. Experimental Support for Cookie parsing is also given.
