Apache Cassandra Version 0.6

Jessica Thornsby

New version of Apache’s NoSQL distributed data store.

The Apache Software Foundation have announced version 0.6 of Apache Cassandra.

Cassandra is a NoSQL distributed data store that was donated to the ASF Incubator by Facebook in 2009 and is currently deployed by a number of high-profile organisations, including Digg, Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter.

New with version 0.6, is support for Apache Hadoop, and an integrated row cache that should eliminate the need for a separate caching layer.

More information is available at the Apache Cassandra Changelog.
