Seam 3.0 RC2 – Now With Seam Forge

The second release candidate for Seam 3.0 has been announced with Seam Forge included in the distribution. Seam Forge is a core framework for rapid-application development in a standards-based environment, which allows users to interact with a project via plugins written using CDI. Seam 3.0 CR2 release also comes with an updated version of the Seam Booking example. The Seam 3.0 Final release is expected by the end of this month.

Bug Fixes for Apache Tomcat 7.0.10

Apache Tomcat 7.0.10 has been released. The reporting of missing files and handling of SSL renegotiation have both been improved, and SSL re-negotiation support has been added to the HTTP NIO connector. The test cases have been extended to cover CLIENT-CERT authentication. More information on the changes, is available at the Changelog.

JRuby 1.6.0 RC3 With Ruby 1.9 Compatibility Fixes

The third release candidate of JRuby 1.6.0 has been announced. This RC adds a readable backtrace format and native JFFI bits for x86_64 SunOS, and fixes a regression that could slow down jar-based requires. There are also further compatibility fixes for Ruby 1.9. Unless major issues are discovered, this will be the last RC before JRuby 1.6.0 Final.

Nominations for NetBeans Governance Board Are Go

Nominations for the NetBeans Governance Board are now open! The deadline for nominations is Monday, March 21st, with the new Board due to be announced on April 12st, 2011. The Governance Board will consist of three people, who will be appointed for a six month term. The community will decide two of the three individuals, with the third one appointed by Oracle.

Public Beta of dynaTrace Ajax Edition 3.0

dynaTrace have released a public beta of dynaTrace Ajax Edition 3.0. This beta adds support for Internet Explorer and Firefox, and can be downloaded from the dynaTrace website. The final release will be announced within the next few weeks.

dynaTrace AJAX Edition is a tool for optimizing Web 2.0 applications. It can analyse code and locate hotspots, and comes with functionality for analysing your site's performance against industry norms, best practices and competitors.

Polarion Mylyn Connector Released

A Polarion Mylyn Connector is now available for providing direct access to the Polarion Track and Wiki bug tracking, wiki collaboration and version control solution, and Polarion ALM from within Eclipse. Polarion stories, tasks and defects can be accessed through Tasktop Pro from the desktop, even when offline. The connector supports time tracking reports, work records, and revision history, and a 30-Day Polarion Connector trial version can be downloaded now. The connector can be purchased as part of the Tasktop Pro + Track & Wiki bundle, or separately with Tasktop Pro or Enterprise.

VMware Acquire WaveMaker Graphical Tool

VMware have acquired the WaveMaker browser-based graphical tool as part of the company's cloud application platform strategy, including Code2Cloud. WaveMaker is an open source visual tool for building Spring applications. Moving forward, VMware will work on providing a close alignment with Spring Roo, in an effort to ensure consistent architecture between WaveMaker and Spring Roo apps. WaveMaker developers should also be able to work on their applications at three levels: code-only style; code-orientated fashion with Spring Roo; and with the WakeMaker graphical environment. VMware plan to enrich WaveMaker functionality with additional Spring features, including Spring Integration and Spring Social endpoints.

jBPM5 on Android?

Kris Verlaenen has blogged about his experiences of getting the jBPM5 engine to run on Android, and has uploaded the source code and the jbpm-android.apk so interested developers can try it out for themselves.
