A new name gains Java Champion status thanks to his work on JSR 354 and the Java Community Process for Credit Suisse

The equivalent of the New Year’s Honours List, the Java Champion status denotes an individual’s outstanding contribution to the Java Community. Currently, there’s around 130 names in Java’s ‘Hall of Fame’ and now we welcome one more - Java evangelist Victor Grazi.

Grazi, who serves on the Executive Committee of the Java Community Process representing the first non-technical vendor Credit Suisse, was nominated by his peers ‘for his experience as a developer, and his work in the Java and Open Source communities.’

His expertise in building real-time financial systems led him to become Spec Lead for the Java Money and Currency API (JSR 354). On the community side of things, Grazi also arranges the NY Java SIG meetings at Credit Suisse’s New York campus each month, forging invaluable networking opportunities not only for him but others. Grazi has certainly earned his stripes too, having been building in Java since the heady days of JDK version 1.02.

He’s also been busy with his own open source project - Java Concurrent Animateda series of animations that visualize components in the java.util.concurrent library.

It’s always great to see some unsung heroes properly recognised by Oracle for their commitment to pushing Java forward and Victor Grazi definitely fits the bill. Congratulations on the accolade.
