Versions 2.0.0 of Apache Shindig and MINA Released
Shindig Gets More OpenSocial 1.0 Support
Apache Shindig have announced the release of version 2.0.0.
Apache Shindig is an OpenSocial reference implementation for hosting OpenSocial apps. It provides the code for rendering gadgets and proxy requests, and handling REST and RPC requests.
Apache Shindig 2.0.0 can be downloaded now.
Apache MINA Network App Framework Upgrades to JUnit 4.7
Version 2.0.0 of Apache MINA has been released.
Apache MINA is a network application framework that provides an abstract, event-driven, asynchronous API over transports such as TCP/IP and UDP/IP vis Java NIO. This release replaces JUnit 3.8 constructions with JUnit 4.7 annotations, adds the missing Javadoc and adds an entry in the FAQ that explains how to close a session and dispose the connector correctly. The binary and source packages should now be separate files, and sendfile support has been added to APR transport. There is also a list of bug fixes.
Get Your Hands on Spring Integration Samples – Quicker!
SpringSource have announced that, starting with the current release of Spring Integration, the samples will no longer be included in the Spring Integration distribution.
The samples will now have their own Git SCM repository and JIRA Issue Tracking system, and will have their own development lifecycle. This lifecycle will not be dependent on the lifecycle of the framework releases, but the repository will still be tagged with each major release for compatibility reasons.
"The great benefit to the community is that we can now add more samples and make them available to you right away without waiting for the release of the framework," reads the announcement.
Xtext 2.0 Takes Shape
Sven Efftinge has posted a summary of where the next release of Xtext – version 2.0 – is heading.
According to his blog post, the team are working on bringing Generic Rename Refactoring, Lexer and Parser Fragments, and a new view framework, to Xtext 2.0. Please see his blog for additional details on what to expect in the next major release.
