US Federal Trade Commission To Oppose Google’s AdMob Takeover?

According to Bloomberg Businessweek, the US Federal Trade Commission staff are opposed to Google’s planned acquisition of AdMob. AdMob sell the ads that run on web pages and mobile apps.

The concern is that this acquisition might reduce competition in the market for advertising on mobile phones.

Bloomberg Businessweek reports that a group of House lawmakers have approached the Federal Trade Commission, requesting a briefing on the investigation. “The need for a thorough review is particularly pressing given Google’s dominant position in search advertising (and) its growing influence over other forms of online advertising,” the lawmakers stated in a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
