Scala-Based Sites

Two New NHS Websites are Powered by Scala

The Scala team have revealed that two new NHS websites are powered by Scala.

The NHS Priority Selector is a private, interactive online application which enables select individuals to cooperate in budgetary and policy decisions within the NHS. Meanwhile, the NHS Foundation Trust network is a public website which provides news and information for prospective foundation trusts within the NHS.

Both sites were developed by Bang. The Technical Director, Jon Pretty, selected Scala for the projects because, in his opinion, “Scala enables us to develop sites more quickly and make changes more responsively. For clients with rapidly-changing requirements, Scala’s advanced type system enables us to facilitate large refactorings safely and with the confidence that they will “just work.”
