SpringSource have announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire data grid technology providers, GemStone Systems.

GemStone's portfolio of products is geared towards providing fast and reliable access to data by virtualising data from numerous sources and formats into memory across distributed systems and cloud architectures.

In a blog post, Rod Johnson reveals that SpringSource will be focusing on deepening the GemStone Systems and Spring integration, particularly in regards to the Spring Framework and tc Server.

In April, SpringSource announced it had acquired Rabbit Technologies, and was adding the RabbitMQ open messaging system to its portfolio of SpringSource products.
