SMBs may spend more on Virtualisation, SaaS
Microsoft recently released a study on the technology priorities of small and midsize businesses (SMBs) in the current economy.
The study covered more than 500 Microsoft SMB partners in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Brazil and India. It indicates that virtualisation, IT consolidation, software as a service, customer relationship management (CRM), and support of remote workers are a top priority for them.
Other key highlights of the report:
* Forty-one percent of SMBs view server virtualisation as the best cost-saving technology.
* SMBs rank SaaS among the top three technology solutions for both cost savings and business growth
* Seventy-four percent of Small Business Specialists believe their customers will have more remote workers, up from 54 percent in 2009
The study also indicates that SMBs will increase technology spending in 2010 to reduce operating costs, improve employee productivity, and acquire customers.
