RichFaces 4.0.0 is Final

RichFaces 4.0.0 is Final!

RichFaces 4.0.0 is now Final! This release offers a set of Ajax-enabled UI components, client-side validation, and a RichFaces Push component for performing realtime client side updates triggered via events from the server side. RichFaces 4.0.0 Final comes with its own Component Development Kit and offers advanced queueing functionality. Users can give the new components a test drive with the RichFaces Online Component Showcase demo.

The next step for the RichFaces team is version 4.1, with mobile and tablet-targeting components currently under consideration for this release.

NetBeans 7.0 RC 1 With Java SE 7 Language Support

The first RC of NetBeans 7.0, is now available to download. This release includes language support for developing to the Java SE 7 spec with the JDK 7 platform. Oracle Database and GlassFish 3.1 are now supported, and the integration with Oracle WebLogic server has been enhanced. Maven 3 and HTML5 editing support is also included, alongside support for Git 1.7.х. More information on this release, including a list of supported technologies, is available at the Release Notes.

New Migration Features for Oracle SQL Developer 3.0

Version 3.0 of the Oracle SQL Developer has been released. This update ships with JDK1.6.0_11 and a new SQL Developer extension, 'Oracle Data Miner,' which provides a graphical user interface for Oracle Data Mining. Version 3.0 can now analyse high-volume SQL statements and offer tuning recommendations, through a 'SQL Tuning Advisor.' There are a number of new features targeting users who wish to migrate from non-Oracle databases, to the Oracle Database, such as a Migration Project navigator, and Enterprise Capture. It can be downloaded now.

Mozilla Firefox 4 for Android

Mozilla Firefox 4 is now available for the Android platform. The release includes Firefox Sync and Awesome Screen, and features such as tabbed browsing, location-aware browsing, desktop notifications, and bookmarks. Users can also capture important screens to view offline, and the Mozilla Firefox 4 for Android JavaScript engine incorporates the JägerMonkey JIT compiler. Mozilla Firefox 4 for Android can be downloaded from the Android Market.

Hadoop Updates for Apache Hive 0.7.0

The Apache Hive data warehouse system project, has announced its 0.7.0 release. Apache Hive is intended for use with Apache Hadoop, and facilitates data summarisation, ad-hoc querying, and analysing large datasets stored in file systems that are Hadoop compatible. This release implements indexing and adds authorisation infrastructure for Hive, alongside Hive Variables and Concurrency Model for Hive. Apache Hive 0.7.0 can be downloaded in both binary and source distributions.

Commons Codec 1.5 Released

Commons Codec version 1.5 has been released. Commons Codec consists of encoder and decoders for various formats, and maintains a collection of phonetic encoding utilities. Version 1.5 adds Cologne Phonetic, and tests to check that encodeBase64() does not chunk output. The Caverphone class has also been split into two classes for Caverphone 1.0 and 2.0.
