Redis 2.0 Adds MULTI/EXEC Commands

The Redis key-value database adds BLPOP and BRPOP commands for 23.0 release.

Redis version 2.0 is out now.

This release adds the MULTI/EXEC family of commands, to support
executing multiple commands as a single atomic block. The BLPOP and
BRPOP commands have been added to support popping from a list in a
blocking fashion, meaning that the client connection will be
blocked until another client pushes an item on a list. Clients can
now publish messages onto channels and subscribe to receive all
messages that are published on channels, and the ‘hashes’ new
datatype allows multiple key/value pairs to be stored on a single


At the announcement, it is also revealed that Redis 2.2.0 is
close to reaching feature freeze.
