RabbitMQ 1.8.0 Moves Closer to AMQP 0-9-1 Spec

Jessica Thornsby

RabbitMQ 1.8.0 is out now.

This release introduces new APIs for extending RabbitMQ with pluggable exchange types and pluggable backing queues. Steps have also been taken to ensure that clients who present invalid credentials cannot flood the broker with requests, and clients must now respond to channel.flow messages within ten seconds to avoid an exception being raised.

There have also been semantic changes in an effort to bring RabbigMQ into line with the AMQP 0-9-1 specification. These changes affect the areas of delivery tags, and queue and exchange equivalence. More information on these semantic changes, is available at the Release Notes.
