Cloud Computing and BI
OSBI vendors may get a break on cloud
Instead of trying to catch up with commercial stacks, open source business intelligence (OSBI) vendors should go to cloud and offer their solutions as SaaS, writes Ovum analyst Madan Sheina.
He cites examples of key vendors already venturing on this road. JasperSoft 3.5 helps SaaS vendors integrate OSBI with their offerings, Pentaho 3.0 comes with an improved cloud computing edition and Talend has partnered with a cloud-based data quality and governance software provider.
For OSBI vendors, struggling to find traction in market, cloud offers a good way to move ahead. Many enterprises would find it attractive to outsource BI solutions-on-cloud, which can integrate with their on-premise data warehouses.
