Updates for MySQL Server and InnoDB
Oracle Announce MySQL 5.5 Release Candidate
At Oracle OpenWorld, Oracle announced a new release candidate for MySQL 5.5.
In this release, MySQL Server and InnoDB have been updated for running on the latest multi-CPU and multi-core hardware and operating systems, and InnoDB is now set as the default storage engine for MySQL Server. The release candidate also features new semi-synchronous replication for allowing the master to proceed without waiting for all the slaves to acknowledge, and replication Heart Beat for detecting, diagnosing and correcting master/slave synchronisation issues.
“We continue to invest in MySQL technology and support the thriving MySQL user community,” said Edward Screven, Oracle’s Chief Corporate Architect.
