New RESTful Framework and Oracle WebLogic Server Adds Maven Plugin

Sonar 2.5 Released

Sonar 2.5 is out now. This release adds inheritance of quality profiles and functionality for tracking violations over time. The ‘@SuppressWarnings’ annotation is now supported, and a new web service has been introduced for getting the history of measures. A new Sonar rule has been created to check method complexity and the Maven POM from Sonar project metadata and some ISO Categories have been removed. New RESTful Framework Builds on Scalatra

The first version of Bowler is out now. Bowler is a new RESTful framework built on top of Scalatra and Scalate, which leverages Lift-JSON. It is built using SBT, with plans to add custom SBT processors to automate boilerplate tasks. Bowler offers out-of-the-box support for mapping from requests to arbitrary objects and back while respecting RESTful principles, and support for localisation. The 1.0 release will feature scaffolding, UI generation, integration extensions for JPA and SBT processors.

Oracle WebLogic Server Adds Maven Plugin

Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.4 has been released. This version adds support for Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software, TopLink JPA 2.0 with patch 9923849 and enhanced support for Oracle RAC with a Grid Link Data Source. It also comes with a WebLogic Maven plugin, which allows the developer to use an Apache Maven plugin for WebLogic Server when performing deployment operations. Weld 1.1.0 is final!

Version 1.1.0 final of the Weld reference implementation of JSR-299 is out now. In addition to around 140 bug fixes, Weld 1.1.0 allows users to manage the built in contexts by injecting them and calling lifecycle methods. There is a new ‘Pastecode’ example for those wishing to get to grips with using the new EJB 3.1 features with Weld.

Maven-Bundle-Plugin 2.2.0 Upgrades BND

Version 2.2.0 of the maven-bundle-plugin from Apache Felix has been announced. This plugin wraps BND to make it work specifically with the Maven 2 project structure. This release contains two fixes. One of these upgrades the bnd tool from 0.0.384 to 1.1.5.0, which adds support for creating Web Archive Bundles that can act both as bundles and standard WAR files.

Trio of Releases for Apache Axis2

It’s been a busy week at Apache Axis2 HQ! The team have announced three new releases:

- Version 1.5.4 of the Axis2 re-write of the Apache Axis engine. Version 1.5.4 is a maintenance release, which contains more than 15 bug fixes.
– Sandesha2 version 1.4, which provides WS-ReliableMessaging support for Axis2. This release is compatible with the Axis2 1.5 branch.
Version 1.5.1 of the Rampart Axis2 module that implements the specifications in the WS-Security stack. This is a maintenance release.
