Microsoft Predict $1 Billion Profit From Cloud Computing

Head of Microsoft's business-software unit has announced that they predict to make at least $1 billion from Web versions of its Office and email programs in the next three to five years, according to Business Week. This is based on Microsoft's estimation that about half its customers for e-mail and collaboration software will make the move to cloud computing within the next five years.

Microsoft is currently working on Web-based versions of its word-processing and spreadsheet software, its Exchange e-mail program and its integrated suite of server capabilities, SharePoint.
