McAfee Plan Cloud Security Services

jt

McAfee have announced a ‘McAfee Cloud Secure program’ which will allow Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers to add additional security to their cloud deployments.

The program combines cloud security certification services with automated auditing, remediation and reporting capabilities. The Cloud Security Certification Services part of the program, sees McAfee partner up with Certification delivery vendors to deliver Certification services tailored for SaaS and Cloud vendors, such as security controls, processes and certifications. On top of this, McAfee will perform daily automatic security audits, and remediation of vulnerabilities, and will report back on the security status of their service and network. The entire program will leverage the McAfee SECURE technology and trustmark, and will be based on McAfee’s Global Threat Intelligence network and its pre-existing SaaS portfolio of Cloud-based security services.

According to a survey performed by IDC eXchange in December 2009, 87.5% of the IDC Enterprise Panel of IT executives and their line-of-business colleagues cited security concerns as the primary reason for adopting cloud-based services. Clearly, cloud computing and security, are two things that go hand-in-hand in the minds of the community.
