Android Text Messaging Virus

Malicious Apps Hit Android Phones

What is thought to be the first Android virus, has been discovered by Kaspersky Labs. The application is presented as a media player but, upon installation, it begins sending text messages to premium numbers.

According to Kaspersky Labs, the 'Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a' virus is spread via text message. The message encourages the receiver to install an application, 13KB in size, and claims to be a media player.
