Liferay Announce Enterprise Edition of Social Office

Liferay announce a new enterprise social collaboration solution.

Liferay have announced the release of Liferay Social Office
Enterprise Edition (EE.)

This product has previously been made available as a community
edition beta. Liferay Social Office Enterprise Edition (EE) is an
enterprise social collaboration solution for document sharing and
team collaboration. It offers team calendaring, blogs, forums, task
management, and more. It can be integrated with Microsoft Office,
and runs on a combination of MySQL and Tomcat.

“Liferay Social Office is designed to help groups be more
productive by making it easy to share information and ideas using
social computing technologies,” said Bryan Cheung, Liferay’s Chief
Executive Officer. “Designed with input from Liferay’s extensive
open source community and a commitment to open standards, Liferay
Social Office provides the first serious open alternative to
SharePoint for enterprises evolving to the next generation of
productivity tools. We are pleased to make Liferay Social Office
available to customers in an Enterprise Edition.”

The Community Edition Beta can be downloaded now.
Pricing information on the Enterprise Edition can also be requested
at the Liferay website.
