JWT Now a SOA Sub-Project

Jessica Thornsby

Another Eclipse project has joined the growing list of Eclipse SOA sub-projects, according to a blog post by Florian Lautenbacher. The Java Workflow Tooling (JWT) project has completed the Move Review, and is now a part of the Eclipse SOA top-level project. It will join Swordfish and STP SCA as Eclipse SOA sub-projects.

The JWT project is a collection of build design time, development time and runtime workflow tools, and aims to foster an ecosystem of interoperable Business Process Management (BPM) platforms. It comprises of a Desktop Tools component that enables the simulation of processes without the need of a process engine, and a transformation base plugin for transforming the JWT-model into BPMN, and vice versa, and for generating XPDL-code. It is centred on the Workflow Editor (WE) and is aiming to graduate from incubation together with, or shortly after, the Helios release in June 2010.

In related news, Florian Lautenbacher has announced that he will be stepping down as JWT project co-lead.
