Jetpack SDK 0.9 Prepares for Electrolysis

Jessica Thornsby

Jetpack SDK 0.9 gets API updates ready for Electrolysis.

Jetpack SDK 0.9 is out now. This release
focuses on implementing changes that pave the way for the
Electrolysis project. Electrolysis is designed for moving add-on
code execution to a separate process, in an attempt to improve the
responsiveness of applications and facilitate the measuring of
add-on resource consumption. In order to prepare for the
integration of Electrolysis, the Context Menu API and Private
Browsing API have both been changed in an attempt to make them more
Electrolysis-compatible. The Widget, Simple Storage, Notifications,
Selection, and Request APIs have all been modified to use the
“EventEmitter” model for registering events.
