Intland Lift Restrictions on MercurialEclipse
Following an outcry against Intland’s restrictions, MercurialEclipse no longer requires a JavaForge account.
Intland have removed access restrictions from the
MercurialEclipse code repository and update site. After it was
discovered that a valid JavaForge account was required to
update the plugin or pull the sources via Eclipse update manager
for the new 1.7.0 release, several members of the community spoke
out. These included committer Andrei Loskutov, who later discovered
he could no longer access the MercurialEclipse project, despite
contributing to it for two years.
“Thanks to Intland for accepting community feedback and to
everyone helping us to prevent another fork,” wrote
MercurialEclipse contributor Andrei Loskutov.
