GWT 2.1 With Server-Side Speed Traces

Jessica Thornsby

Logging of client-side code in GWT applications.

GWT 2.1 is out now, with a list of new features. The first, is Cell
Widgets for creating views on top of large data sets. Cell Widgets
can render subsets of a dataset, as though they had fetched the
entire dataset. GWT 2.1 also builds up chunks of HTML that is then
injected into the DOM, in a ‘flyweight’ design. GWT 2.1 gets an
alternative to GWT-RPC for creating data-oriented services,
‘Request Factory,’ and an Editor framework for binding data objects
to UI fields.
