Will GCC 4.6 Get Go?

Ian Lance Taylor proposes merging gccgo frontend and gcc-specific runtime.

Google’s Ian Lance Taylor has started a discussion regarding including the Go frontend with
gcc. The GCC Steering Committee accepted the contribution of the gccgo frontend and
gcc-specific runtime for the Go language, back in January. Now, Ian
Lance Taylor has proposed getting Go into the gcc 4.6 release. He
reveals that the code is “almost” ready to be merged as, although
changes still need to be made, these are all specific to Go and
should not affect other languages. Before the merge, Google hope to
more clearly separate the Go frontend and the gcc-specific
interface.

GCC 4.6 is currently scheduled for a 2011 released.
