Get BIRT-y with Flash and Flex Contest Submissions Deadline
Developers have until March 10th to submit their proposal to the 'Get BIRT-y with Flash and Flex Contest.' This contest challenges the community to come up with app, solution or component using both BIRT and Adobe technologies. It is being run by Actuate, the co-lead the Eclipse BIRT open source project.
The ultimate winner will be awarded a cash prize of up to $5,000, but all winning applications will be listed on the BIRT Exchange Marketplace.
Actuate provide several examples of possible BIRT/Flash/Flex mash-ups at their blog. These include Flash objects that pull data from multiple sources; real-time data visualisations from BlazeDS; and BIRT controls that use browser-side scripting for displaying Adobe content.
The submissions will be judged on the originality of the idea and design, the product's relevance as a showcase for BIRT and Adobe technology, its usefulness to the BIRT community and the quality and robustness of the implementation.
“There are some awesome developers out there. I can’t wait to see how they combine BIRT and Adobe technologies to create something ultra-cool,” said Dan Melcher, Senior RIA Architect at Actuate. “This contest is an excellent way to give kudos to Adobe and BIRT talent, and I’m sure something amazing is going to happen here.”
