Free Disaster Recovery for Google Apps Customers

Google are now offering free disaster recovery for Google Apps customers.

All data created and stored in Google Apps is simultaneously replicated in two data centres at once with the vision of Google nearly instantaneously transferring the data from one, over to the other. This live and synchronous replication aims to transfer stored data so quickly, the customer won't realise that a data centre has experienced an interruption.

The same level of data replication is available for all the other major applications in the Apps suite: Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google Sites. According to Google, they can provide this service for free as they already operate many large data centers simultaneously for millions of users, which helps reduce cost while increasing resiliency and redundancy.
