First Beta of Thunderbird 3.1

Mozilla has released the first beta of Thunderbird version 3.1, codenamed 'Lanikai.'

Version 3.1 Beta of the Mozilla open source email and news client is built on top of the Gecko 1.9.2 platform, which is the same rendering engine used by the new Firefox 3.6. This beta introduces stability and memory improvements; corrections to the interface and updates that aim to make upgrading from Thunderbird 2 easier.

This milestone is intended for community testing and feedback, and those wanting to try out the beta are warned not to expect all of their add-ons to work properly with this milestone.

Please see the Release Notes for more information.
