First Beta Of Scala 2.8.0 Released
The first beta of Scala 2.8 is now available to download.
Version 2.8 Beta 1 features a redesigned collection library; completion for all packages on the classpath; and support for nested Java annotations. It also introduces specialised type parameters, which enable the compiler to generate transparently multiple versions of a given definition. New tools include Scaladoc 2, which builds on previous versions of Scaladoc to offer support for wiki-like syntax in the source comments and compile-time checking of documentation errors.
The final version of 2.8.0 is expected to be released in the next few months.
