Let the campaign trail begin!
Eclipse Election for Board of Directors 2012 is underway
It's that time of year again. The Eclipse Foundation have officially opened the polls to elect new board members to two of the most important boards within the community that represent Solutions Members and Enterprise Members.
Unlike the current campaign trail underway in the U.S., there won't be mudslinging or underhand tactics for one candidate to assume a vital poll lead going into the home stretch - this election will no doubt appoint several capable board members, with their job to instill all the policies that makes the Eclipse Foundation so great.
There are six positions available on the board - three representatives of the Eclipse committers and three representatives of the so-called Sustaining Members, who are made up of enterprises backing the huge open source foundation. The terms of office for these elected board members is one year, commencing April 1.
For the positions on the Committers board, we have the following candidates:
- Ed Merks (President, Macro Modelling)
- Gunnar Wagenknecht (CTO, AGETO)
- John Arthorne (Senior Software Developer, IBM)
- Chris Aniszczyk (Manager, Open Source, Twitter)
Whilst for the Sustaining Members Board, there's the following four candidates.
- Mik Kersten (CEO, Tasktop)
- Christian Dupuis (Director, R&D, VMware)
- Eric Clayberg (Software Engineering Manager, Google)
- Hans Kamutzki (Managing Director, MicroDoc)
You'll find all the details about the candidates, and their manifestos, in the links above, which will hopefully be able to guide you on who is the best candidate to represent the wider community. Voting is open until 3:00pm Eastern on March 16, 2012.
The winners of the election will be announced at the Annual General Meeting of the Eclipse Foundation which will be held on Monday, March 26th at EclipseCon 2012. Happy Voting!
