Eclipse Announce Open Source Initiative for Automotive Industry

Eclipse Foundation Announces Open Source Initiative for
The Eclipse Foundation have announced a new open source initiative, that will define
and implement a standard platform for the software development
tools used by the automotive industry. The founding members are the
BMW Group, Robert Bosch GmbH and Continental AG, and the Eclipse
Strategic Member itemis AG. They will form the Eclipse Automotive
Industry Working Group, which will be open to organisations wishing
to participate in establishing a standard tools platform, for use
in the automotive supply chain.
“While we bundle forces to create the platform that we need, we
provide a platform to our tools vendors that they can use to
seamlessly integrate their products in our workbench. In addition,
the Eclipse Public License enables us to modify and extend the
platform to our needs!” said Ignacio Garro, the Head of IT PLM
Systems and Software at Continental Automotive.
Second Milestone of Spring Data Graph with Neo4j
The second milestone of the Spring Data Graph project with
Neo4j support, has been released. Spring Data Graph 1.1.0.M2
updates the dependency to Neo4j 1.4, adds cypher queries to
Neo4j-Template and overhauls the Neo4j-Template API. More

The Graph Neo4j module provides integration with the Neo4j graph
database. It includes a Neo4jTemplate with exception translation
and optional transaction management, and Neo4j Traversal support on
dynamic fields and via repository methods.
Eclipse Recruit 500 New Friends
Ian Skerrett has revealed that Eclipse have reached their goal of 500 Friends of Indigo.
Eclipse launched the initiative to recruit 500 new Friends of
Eclipse between May 1st and July 31st, earlier this year. To become
a Friend of Eclipse, you are required to donate more than $35 to
the Eclipse Foundation.
Scala IDE for Eclipse 2.0.0 Beta 9
The ninth beta of the Scala IDE for Eclipse, can be
downloaded now. In this release, the breakpoint support has been
improved, alongside improvements to completions, diagnostics and an
improved integration with Eclipse. Scala completions have now been
moved to its own category, eliminating a source of
incompatibilities with the Mylyn plugin. A package object wizard
has also been added.
Scala IDE for Eclipse 2.0.0 Beta 9 is available in both a
2.9.0-1 version, and a 2.8.2-SNAPSHOT version.
