XSLT 2.1 Specification

Defining the Syntax and Semantics of XSLT 2.1

The XSL Working Group has published the First Public Working Draft of XML Transformations (XSLT) Version 2.1.

This specification aims to define the syntax and semantics of version 2.1 of the XSLT language for transforming XML documents into other XML documents. This version focuses on functionality to allow the streaming of source documents. It aims to facilitate this streaming by identifying a set of restrictions that can enable implementations to adopt a streaming mode of operations, which places a limited demand on the processor, and new constructs that indicate when streaming is required.

The draft, called 'XProc: An XML Pipeline Language' is available at the W3C website.
