Cloud.com launches open source IAAS-enabler solution, CloudStack

Arun Mysore

The IaaS-enabler solution comes in three distinct flavours: CloudStack Enterprise Edition, CloudStack Service Provider Edition and CloudStack Community Edition.

Cloud.com has announced CloudStack, an open source software
solution, to help customers deploy cloud services.

CloudStack comes with tools to build and deploy apps on
different cloud platforms; create CPUs on-demand; isolate and
secure resources on cloud; automated resource distribution;
real-time reporting capabilities and simplified management
tools.

The IaaS-enabler solution comes in three distinct flavours:
CloudStack Enterprise Edition, CloudStack Service Provider Edition
and CloudStack Community Edition.

CloudStack Community Edition is distributed under the General
Public License 3 (GPL3). It integrates with the open source Xen and
KVM hypervisors and can be deployed with Ubuntu and Fedora
distributions.

Cloud.com also supports Amazon Web Services API, Citrix Cloud
Center(C3) and VMware’s vCloud to provide an open environment that
interoperates with a user’s existing cloud initiatives.

Offering a perspective on the open source cloud service RedMonk
analyst Michael Coté said,

“…The best strategy now seems to be taking on as open and
heterogeneous a cloud infrastructure as possible that can span
private and public clouds.”
