Citrix Systems have announced that they have signed a definitive agreement to acquire virtualisation management provider VMLogix.

The acquisition will bring new lifecycle management capabilities to the Citrix OpenCloud platform, and will allow Citrix to add a new self-service interface to its XenServer virtualisation platform. Several of these new OpenCloud capabilities will be included in the next release of the free Citrix XenServer virtualisation platform.

The acquisition of VMLogix is expected to close in the third quarter of 2010.

Citrix have also announced they will integrate the Citrix OpenCloud infrastructure platform with the open source OpenStack, which it is co-developing with Rackspace and Dell, among others.
