Business Intelligence: The view from IBM

IBM is one of the mega vendors dominating the BI market. Forbes has spoken to Rob Ashe, who was the CEO of Cognos, the BI company IBM bought for $ 5 billion in 2008. Mr Ashe now heads IBM's analytics business.   

IBM is focused on analytics because of customer demand. Big Blue is trying to broaden BI applications to make predictions,  glean unstructured data and work with other collaborative tools.

Analytics tools have to let customers pull in and crunch data from multiple systems and work with data not yet hosted in warehouses.

IBM analytics is focused on large customers, but thinks the next big opportunity is with the mid-size enterprises.  You can read the full article at Forbes website.
