Rhomobile have announced a beta of version 2.0 of the Rhodes open source mobile application framework. With Rhodes, developers can build native smartphone apps, including apps for the iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Mobile, and Symbian platforms.

New with this release, is support for bi-directional audio and video streaming, and a new metadata framework that allows mobile apps to communicate with backend enterprise systems, which have changing schemas.

Interested parties can sign up for the beta now. The Rhodes 2.0 final is scheduled for release later this month.
